Largest Ground Attack on El Fasher Kills 30, More RSF Violence Reported

Subheadline: UN Security Council Condemns Attack, Calls for End to Violence

At least 30 people were killed in the largest ground attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Saturday, according to UN reports. The attack came a day after the UN Security Council demanded an end to the violence in the region.

RSF Targeting Civilians

Satellite images analyzed by Yale University's Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) show that the RSF is targeting civilian areas in North Darfur. The images show burned-out homes and villages, as well as evidence of mass displacement.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, expressed horror over the escalating violence in the region. "I urge all parties to the conflict to respect international law, to protect civilians, and to allow humanitarian organizations to access those in need," she said.

Other Reports of RSF Violence

In addition to the attack on El Fasher, there have been reports of RSF violence in other parts of Sudan, including Blue Nile, El Gezira, and Khartoum.

In Blue Nile, the RSF has been accused of killing civilians, burning villages, and displacing thousands of people. In El Gezira, the RSF has been accused of using excessive force against protesters. In Khartoum, the RSF has been accused of arbitrary arrests and detentions.

Calls for International Action

The international community has condemned the RSF's violence and called for an end to the conflict in Sudan. The UN Security Council has demanded an end to the violence and called for all parties to the conflict to respect international law. The United States has also condemned the violence and called for an independent investigation.

The Sudanese government has denied the allegations of RSF violence and claimed that the reports are fabricated. However, the overwhelming evidence suggests that the RSF is responsible for serious human rights violations in Sudan.
