Dani Olmo Returns to Barcelona After Four Years at RB Leipzig

Agreement Reached

Barcelona and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement to transfer Dani Olmo back to his boyhood club for a sum of €60 million.

The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, with Olmo signing a contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2027.

Details of the Transfer

  • Transfer fee: €60 million
  • Contract length: Until 2027
  • Position: Attacking midfielder
  • Age: 26
  • Previous club: RB Leipzig

Olmo left Barcelona's youth academy in 2014 to join Dinamo Zagreb, before moving to Leipzig in January 2019.

He has made over 150 appearances for Leipzig, scoring 36 goals and providing 32 assists.

Olmo has also been capped 25 times by Spain and was part of the team that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020.

Barcelona's Transfer Strategy

The signing of Olmo is seen as part of Barcelona's strategy to rebuild their squad under new manager Xavi Hernandez.

The club has already signed Ferran Torres, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Adama Traore in the January transfer window.

Barcelona are also reportedly interested in signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.
